Hello wafflers and howlers, dabblers and dreamers.... here's another sporadic quick blast with news from Project Dogwaffle and all things related to pretty pixels - beyond digital painting!
Today is Thanksgiving, November 24. We invite you to give thanks to all good things in your life. Whether it's a cop who's patrolling your neighborhood to help make it a better place, or tomorrow a mailman delivering news, good or bad, or whether it's by contributing to mankind and the human species experience (or was that experiment?) in the form of a small yet meaningful donation to some important cause. This could be a well known charity, or smaller lesser known organizations, non-profits or whatever. You could even give some spare change to a homeless person, a veteran, or buy them a meal or sandwich or even just a fruit, something healthy, why not, if you don't want to see your donation go to buying booze or drugs.
Throughout this newsletter, you'll find some 'TgE TotM' - 'Thanksgiving Edition Tip of the Moment'..... on how you can spread some cheers and pass it on to someone, another artist, the community at large.

You essentially buy something else, and if the money spent is high enough to qualify, the other vendor buys you a copy of PD Particles, PD Artist 1 or Project Dogwaffle 2. They pay for it, you get it free. We're all happy campers.
This system is called TrialPay, and it has made it possible for a few artists who wanted to get Dogwaffle to get it for free. They had just enough money to buy something, and they really had to buy something else at higher priority. For example, it was mothers day, and time to send flowers to mom through FTD. Or your antivirus was up for renewal and decided to try Avira Antivir, or others. Trial Pay offers tons of products and services as well as subscriptions, even things like credit cards and Netflic and more.
Shop around. If you find something you really need, you could also get something for free that you really want: Project Dogwaffle in one of its many incarnations.

New Tutorials with PD Pro
Howler or Artist

Here's an example of a recent video on edible art, using morning cereal or coffee with milk frothing, chocolate or honey, scrambled eggs or other food items especially when they appear with bubbles, to help in making planetary surfaces such as the look of Mercury with many impact craters, or areas with tectonic plates leaving cracks on the surface indicative of fault lines.
If you're a starving artist, you might want to explore this form of digital mixed media art - you also get to eat your art's ingredients, so what's not to like :-)
Here's another, on layering images that are similar because they were color-derived from the same original image. Interesting technique for space clouds with volumetric depth effects:

Short of the Week
We recently became aware of a website which has very interesting videos, films and animations, mostly short films. You've got to look for 'Rosa' in there, by Jesús Orellana, it's a bit post-apocalyptic in style and story, but such great animation.
One of my favorites there is Pythagasaurus: bloody funny and awesome at so many levels!
